AB De Villiers’ Analysis of MS Dhoni’s Last IPL Season as Captain of CSK
Another update on MS Dhoni’s anticipated retirement date has arrived from iplcricbet. With MSD about to make his highly awaited return in the IPL 2024, cricket fans all around the world are looking forward to the games this season. After concluding his international career in August 2020, he is currently captain of the reigning champions, CSK. Despite an injured knee, he managed CSK for the 2018 Indian Premier League. They continued and surpassed the Mumbai Indians record by winning their fifth IPL championship. Dhoni is in his forties, therefore there were a lot of rumors and questions about whether or not the IPL last year would be his last match. But Dhoni is back for an even better season, and he wants to win a record-breaking sixth IPL championship.
AB De Villiers’ statement on MSD’s final IPL season
According to De Villiers’ statements on his YouTube channel, “There were a lot of rumors about MS Dhoni finishing up last year, that was not the case, ladies and gentlemen. He would be back again. Will this be his final season? No one knows. He just seems to be this diesel engine that never ends. He keeps running. What an incredible player, what an incredible captain.”
He continued, “I believe it’s through their presence, it’s through the leadership of MSD, a calm coach in Stephen Fleming, senior players in Ravi Jadeja, and others who have really set this incredible culture alive. They are a very intimidating team to play against. They are never easy to beat.” He further added, “That is always a great characteristic of a very successful unit, of a very successful franchise. When you are playing well, it’s, ‘Yes, no problem, no one’s gonna stop us’ but when you are not playing so well – they always find a way to compete.”
Further, he said “They won last year. Yes, they want to defend their title but there’s almost no pressure on MSD and his troops and I think that makes them dangerous. Can they go back-to-back? They certainly have the ability.” In a single word, he describes them as a ‘dangerous’ side.
