How to Play Blackjack for Beginners

The rules to play online gambling games like blackjack are very easy to remember. However, we’d recommend playing the game a few times for fun before you try to win real money online instantly. We’re explaining how to play a typical game below.

1. Join a table.

You’ll be joining a blackjack table. Once all the players at the table are ready, they are dealt with 2 cards, face up. The dealer also gets 2 cards, one face up, the other down.

1. Decide whether to hit or stand.

Work out the value of both your hand and that of the dealer’s, and try to get as close to 21 as possible, without going bust. Use either your instincts or work out with blackjack cheat- sheets available online.

If you choose hit, ask the dealer for another card. This is used only when you’re sure that the next card won’t cause you to go bust or you’re willing to run the risk of the dealer getting a better hand. This is done based on the current value of your cards.

If you choose stand, you’ll ask the dealer to move on to the next player without dealing you new cards anymore. This is usually done when the value of your cards is high (e. g. something above 17 or so), and you can’t be sure whether the dealer’s hand will beat yours to bust.

1. Hand Value

As a result of the new move you just made, you’ll likely have a new hand value. If your hand value is anything less than or equals to 21, you’ll remain in the game.

1. Dealer Reveal

After all the players at the table have made their decisions, the dealer reveals their face down card.

1. Compare

If your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, you bust the dealer and win. If the dealer has 21 or a value closer to 21 than any of the players, the dealer wins.

If you have won, the dealer will issue your winnings. The payout amount will depend on the type of bet that had been placed.
